THE BRIEF

Design a collection of static wallpapers that will be used as part of an OS update within the Windows platform. Create a light and dark mode version of each wallpaper and include subtle elements of motion to bring the images to life, making sure branding matches Microsoft and is user friendly.

PROCESS

With both a light and dark mode, Kaisin and I really wanted to explore concepts that were opposite yet related to these two modes. After much brainstorming, lots of exploration, and further development on the concept, we considered the range between light and dark and how fluid that can truly be, which is how we landed on gradients, interesting texturing, and abstractness of movements.

Concept 01 | Fluidity (chosen direction)

This direction expresses the fluidity of Windows in a visual manner emphasizing the idea of craft alongside the knowledge that windows is versatile.

Concept 02 | Bloom

This direction celebrates the growth of Windows alongside the user’s utilization pushed further by the visual of non traditional blooming of flowers.
